Our next PEAKS
meeting will be Sunday, February 12, and (I think I've said this before), you don't want to miss it! We've been
working really hard lately and I think it's time we had some fun. So wear your pajamas and bring a snuggly blanket because
we're going to eat pancakes and watch a movie! Dinner is at 5:00 and the movie starts at 5:30. If you are preschool-5th
grade, PEAKS is for you! We love to see new faces, so
please join us! Bring a friend

COURAGEOUS SMALL GROUP
In the fall of 2011, the producers of Fireproof and Facing the Giants
put out a film called “Courageous” that tackled one of the greatest lacking needs in society and in our families
today—the need for true Biblical fatherhood. Courageous landed in the top 5 in the box office
opening week and continued to grow in popularity with many Christian and Non-Christian supporters of the film and message.
Courageous is more than a movie, but it’s a challenge that has spread out into Bible study, small group
study, and much more. Mountain View plans to open up small group sessions for families to join in on a
Courageous Bible Study starting on February 19. Here is our schedule. All dates
begin at 5:30pm. Sign-up sheets are in the Narthex.
Feb 19. --- Courageous family Movie night
March 4 ---
Courageous call
March 18--- Priorities
April 1---- Legacy
April 15--- Faith
Our hope is that after this family study, small groups
for men, women, and youth will dive even deeper into Courageous.
A sign-up sheet for the family study
will be in the Narthex starting next Sunday. If you have any questions, please see Ellen Bohn or Auri Jones.

News You Can Use
A Bite in the Right Direction:
Incorporating new habits into your daily life takes work, so aim for progress, not perfection! Start with
small changes that you can easily fit into your daily routine and go a little further each week. Swapping a breakfast Danish
for whole grain cereal, having water instead of soft drinks with meals, picking veggies as a side dish or trying fruit for
dessert are all doable actions that will lead to long term results. Look at your usual eating habits and commit to one ”swap
out” this week. Make sure your new habit is something that you can integrate seamlessly into your routine. Use your
New Year’s momentum to consider other situations where you could easily make a change
PLEASE NOTE:
Blood pressure Clinic will be NEXT SUNDAY - ( Cynthia is on call today)
Submitted for your good health!

Meals On Wheels Volunteer Opportunity!!
DRIVERS NEEDED WEEK OF FEB.
27 – MAR. 2
Mountain View has committed to provide drivers for the lunchtime meal delivery route for every
day the week of February 27 through March 2. Please consider volunteering for one day
during this week. This requires your vehicle, gas and about 1 1/2 hours of your time (10:45 am to 12:15
pm approximately). A Meals on Wheels technician who is experienced with the route rides with you, directs
you on where to drive and takes the meal to the door. This is a wonderful and eye-opening experience.
If you would like commit to one of these days, please call or e-mail Melanie Kirkpatrick.

MORE THAN 20 YEARS AGO, the Souper Bowl of Caring began with a simple prayer
from a single youth group:
“Lord, as we enjoy the Super Bowl
football game, help us to be mindful of those
without even a bowl of soup to eat.”
Since that
day, more than $81 million has been raised for local charities across the country through Souper Bowl of Caring.
It has become a powerful movement that is transforming the time around Super Bowl weekend into the nation’s largest
celebration of giving and serving.
Through this mission, young people learn what it’s like to make a positive difference in the world
– as they collect food, raise money and volunteer to work in charities that provide shelter to the homeless, food to
the hungry and compassion to those in need.
Be part of this movement that is sharing God’s
love with those in need. Please give generously on Super Bowl Sunday. Every dollar donated
goes to
MEALS ON WHEELS OF THE GREATER LYNCHBURG AREA.

Get ready for VALENTINE’S DAY
Our Youth group is
growing and we have LOTS of them wanting to go on the mission trip this summer. We had such great support
before with this sale, we are hoping for as much (or more!) this year to help out with the expenses. Buy
a carnation for $3.00 and we will wrap it up with a special treat, include a card and hand deliver them at Sunday service
on February 12th. Don’t forget your Sweetheart, Mom, Dad, Grandparents and friends.
For fun, you could even sign anonymous! Fill out the info below and place it in the offering plate
along with your payment. Make checks payable to Mountain View and put "Valentine Fundraiser"
in the memo. We will also have a table set up in the Narthex. All money raised will
go to send as many Youth as we can to our summer Mission Trip. Thank you for your support!
