What is Happening??

Welcome

We would like to welcome Mike Waldmann as our Worship Leader.  We would also like to thank Bob Sherman for bringing us our message this morning.

Recycle Bin

The Recycle Bin that was located in the Narthex has been removed.  Everyone is encouraged to take their bulletins home to read.

 Bible Study

A Bible study focusing on the words of Jesus found in John 14-17 will be taught on Thursday mornings from 10:00 – 11:30am beginning August 5.  These words are especially important since they are the last words of Jesus to His disciples before he went to the cross.  The Bible study will be led by Faye Hunter and continue until the ladies’ Bible study resumes in the fall.  If you are interested in attending and need child care, please let Gayle Saunders know at 525-6612.

WE NEED FRESH COFFEE, PLEASE!!

We hate to whine but we are TIRED.  Several of us on the Crossbucks crew have been serving for over 5 years!  PLEASE consider serving on this "no-meeting" committee!  Your only obligation is for ONE Sunday a month with others so you are not alone.  Each Sunday's team is at liberty to organize it however they wish, the head of this thing doesn't even ask for a report!!  We have seen some new faces this past year, but we need more - they are dropping like flies!  We train so no experience is necessary - I don't even LIKE coffee.

We have all come to enjoy Crossbucks and I know I have a rough week without Earl's brownies (which, by the way, you get first dibs if you are serving!).  Please step up and help us out!  If I don't get a response, I will start making announcements EVERY Sunday!  Contact any Crossbucks member or e-mail Tamera.

9  ounce paper cups

Playground Work

We need a few volunteers to help spruce up and get the playground ready for this fall.  The mulch needs “fluffing” and we need to make sure all the nuts and bolts are secure and tight.  Please plan to help out on Saturday, August 14, for an hour or 2 starting at 9am.  Bring your fluffing pitchfork, shovel  or wrenches.

Shepherd’s Table

Our Wednesday to serve at the Shepherd’s Table is August 18.  The menu will be Baked Spaghetti.  A crew will be getting together to cook this on Monday, August 16, at 7pm.  This will give many working folks a chance to participate in preparing the meal.  If you would like to help cook or to serve, please let Gayle know, 525-6612.

Red Cross Bloodmobile

Thursday, August 19   12noon – 6pm

We will need many volunteers to make this event possible.

Please check the board in the Narthex to sign up to either help out that day, bring donations for the canteen, or be a blood donor.  All questions should be directed to Cynthia Tabaian, our Parish Nurse, at 525-6612.

Water Day

And

Church Picnic

Saturday, August 21

4:00pm

Everyone, young and old, is invited to Water Day at Mountain View.

There’s something for everybody:

Or just come to watch!

At 5:00pm, we will come into the Fellowship Hall for a potluck picnic dinner.

Everyone is asked to bring a main dish and a dessert or side.

Paper products and drinks will be provided.

Do you like singing?  Do you like acting?  Are you ready to have some fun?  Our Messenger’s program will be resuming on Sunday, August 22, from 4:00 – 5:00pm.

We will be starting off with our “Camp Wallaballa” play and we need kids of all ages.  Please come have some fun learning about camping and learning how to have fun with singing.  If you have any questions, please contact Ava Marie Vance at 525-6612.

MOUNTAIN VIEW SMALL GROUPS - CONTINUE YOUR JOURNEY!

Plug into a small group at Mountain View!  We will be trying to focus on a seasonal theme to emphasize Pastor Steve’s sermon series.  Watch as we move forward this summer with “Son Ripened Fruit!” and check to see what the groups are up to - all welcome you to join them!  You can check out the bulletin board in the Narthex for updated information as well as the website.  If you know of a group that is meeting but is not included below please send in the info and I will add it.  If you have a study in mind, e-mail us and we will find a facilitator and make it happen.  We welcome new ideas!!

Cookin’ Club

Have you ever wondered “What in the world am I making for dinner??”  Well, you are not alone!!!  We all think that from time to time!  Why not get together with some girlfriends in a kitchen, share some recipes, learn a few tips and make some dinners together?!  Thus, the idea for the Cookin’ Club is formed!  Cookin’ Club is another way to be in a small group where a few women will get together to prepare meals to feed their families and possibly others too.  Extra meals could be prepared to share with others who need some encouragement. If you are interested in joining a Cookin’ Club small group or have any questions email Pat Kuhland.

Kroger Gift Cards

Why not let a percentage of your grocery, pharmacy and gas purchases go directly to Mountain View?

Ø      It would cost you nothing!

Ø      All you have to do is buy a $5 Kroger gift card from Mountain View. The card is redeemable for $5 in merchandise.

Ø      Use the card to buy your groceries, pharmacy items or gas at any Kroger store. The percentage applies to all items purchased at Kroger, not just Kroger brands.

Ø      To add value to your card at any time, simply ask the cashier to "reload" your card up to $500, which can be used indefinitely. You can "reload your card using a credit or debit card, cash or check.

Ø      Your Kroger Gift Card does not interfere with your Kroger PLUS card discount.

Ø      5% of your total purchases goes directly to the Building Fund at Mountain View!!

It's as simple as that and imagine what would happen if say 50 - 100 members of our congregation shopped this way...it could mean up to an estimated $15,000 - $30,000 going into the Building Fund annually. What a great way to supplement your giving to the church without costing you anything!

If  you have questions or if you want to participate, contact Jann Brown.
